Day One, Camping In Queens

Monday morning we took off and went on a week long backpacking / camping trip. On day one we went to Atlanta Idaho (not Georgia). Atlanta is a small that was big into gold mining a long time ago and is now just small town out in the middle of nowhere. We camped the night at Queens River campground.

We found that the town of Atlanta celebrates Christmas year round.

Here is a cool little cottage. While visiting we also saw 2 dogs, 1 stop sign, 1 child, 12 men, 1 car, and like 50 pickup trucks.

This is the library. We did not check out any books here because it has been closed since the 80's.

Our camp site next to Queens River.

The great Queens River.

According to Jen it got cold in the morning.

Cabining

This weekends adventure was fun. We went to a friend's cabin Friday evening to Saturday evening. We went hiking, canoeing, played horseshoes, played games on a game cube, had a picnic, and got to watch/listen to an incredible thunder, lightening, rain and hail storm that came through later in the afternoon.

Here we are on a hike. It was very green up there.

In the canoe races, couples against each other, Jen and I came in last.

Here is a little video of the storm that came through.

Pictures from Grimes Creek

This weekend we went camping once again. This time the air mattress lost all it's air and we spilt half a gallon of water in the car. At least it didn't rain. Here are some cool pics from the trip.

Jennie Lake

Mamorial Day Jen and I went hiking with some freinds up to Jennie Lake. We did not make it to the lake but we had a lot of fun.

Jen and I at the trail head.

Now that's a lovely boulder.

The four of us.

Jen found a little spring.

I found a log to rest on.

The trail was covered in spots by snow or fallen trees. These minor obsticals just made it fun.
